Dream Day Success!

It’s hard to put into words just how much The Future Project Barbuda has come to mean – to the students, to the school, and to the community. As Principal Harry put it to me directly: “This year has been a dream. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without you all.”

One of the many highlights as the year ended was Dream Day, a new experience recently designed and being piloted. Barbuda’s students were among the first in the world to go through it – and their response was incredible. Dream Day is designed to help young people explore their values, reflect on their purpose, and take real steps toward their goals. Thirty students (about a quarter of the school!) were recruited to join, and strikingly, twenty chose to come on a school holiday to spend two hours in reflection, visioning, and dialogue.

A few reflections from the students:

“I never knew I could open up about my dreams to others.” – The’on, Form 3

“I discovered a version of me that was backed into a corner because of people’s hate and bad judgment.” – Jenaecia, Form 4

“I learned that I am really strong and can do anything I put my mind to.” – Keyarra, Form 1

We thank our extraordinary team on the ground – Allyson, Darlene, and Pastor Elliott – who have become invaluable to the school. We are so lucky to have them!
